a free public witnessing of a paratheatre lab session

this is not a performance or a show but a public invitation to witness the last in a series of twenty-four nights of working together as a group in a non-performance oriented paratheatre medium. in this current three-month lab, we have been combining elements of prayer, song, and movement into strands of spontaneous and gently convulsive expressions. however, we do not know what direction or form our final session will take; it will be as unknown to us, as it will be to you.
this is not an audience participation ritual. please do not join in with singing or pounding the floor with your feet or clapping hands, as it would only destroy the climate we are working to cultivate. we ask that you simply pay attention, see what you can see, feel what you can feel. nothing will be explained while it is happening. maybe we’ll talk about it afterwards. maybe not; we don’t know. it all depends on how things go.
over the years, most of what we have done in this paratheatre medium has occurred “as if hidden” behind closed doors; no audits or audience allowed. as such, this work has not been dependent on any audience and would still happen whether witnesses appear or not.
